My Wildflower and Me

Little flower all alone
do you ever get lonesome
where you've grown,
for I see no others
near;
do you stand in awe of
fear?
Would you like to
hear
a story about a wildflower
that I chanced to
meet?
If you don't mind
I'll sit right down beside you
and whisper in your
ear.
God is the Gardner
Who tells all the
flowers where to spring
through Mother
Earth.
He, it is, who gives them
birth
and nourishes each one
upon the Earth.
I saw such a petite little flower
just a day or so
ago
when I took my little dog
for a walk.
We stopped to say 'hello'
to this special flower
and, I tell you the truth
as I spoke
she blushed from blue
to pink
and swayed back and forth
as I told her how
beautiful
she was, and how much
joy
she shared with Muggsy
boy
and Muggsy's master
who is a very old veteran of
World War Two,
having seen things he'd like to
forget,
and so would you!
But wildflowers are God's gift
to the
Earth, so He keeps them in
out-of-the-way
places
and often He is the only
one who sees their
faces.
This little wildflower
understood my simple
discourse
of her beauty and
innocence
for she moved delicately
as I spoke,
like a maiden fair
with the Spring breeze
blowing in her
hair.
I cannot tell you what
she said to
me
for I am sworn
secretly,
but The Good Lord knows
our conversation
braided with
love.
Little wildflowers have
tender souls
for they came fro God
above!
And so, my dear new friend
Muggsy and I
will come back again
just to make
certain
that you are doing
well
and we'll draw back
the curtain
to expose your radiant
beauty, and
perhaps you can dance
for us
and blow us a kiss
or two
for surely God gave
little wildflowers a tender heart
so that they can
fall in
love
with an old veteran
and his dog.
I promise to be faithful
to you
and care for you and
love you with all
my heart
foe as long as God allows
me sanity of
mind
for love is the greatest
force
and is always
kind!
I cannot take you to my
home
for you could not stand
the shock of being
up-rooted
from Mother Earth,
so you must remain where
the God of all Creation
placed you,
but shortly, both you and I
will die
and we both shall make
that flight to the place where
the roses never
fade
and where we shall
ever live together beside the
River of Life,
in the shade of God's
presence,
and where no sun shall
ever mar your
delicate face of
serene and precious beauty
and where we shall
speak the same
language
and
Jesus will talk with us
and tell us that
He is pleased to have the two
of us together,
My Wildflower and Me!
