Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building
Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building
Here are photos of the historic Lompoc Veterans Memorial Building. This building was built in 1936 by Santa Barbara County on property partially donated by American Legion Post 211. Records show the tower in the middle was used in World War 2 as a lookout for Japanese aircraft. The painting on the wall is signed by an artist in 1936 who was commissioned by President Roosevelt's Federal Art Project. There is also a wooden etching with the same historical background. The building is home to the American Legion Post 125 and Auxiliary, VFW Post 1717 and Auxiliary, GI Forum, VFW Post 570, Boots & Chutes (a military funeral detachment), American Legion Post 211 Auxiliary. The 4th District Santa Barbara County Supervisor has offices here also.
